hello, I am looking for translations for Nagitokawin and Icasna and Mmakojanjanwin. thank you very much in advance!! Nagi = a dead spirit = ghost (sicun = live spirit) Toka = abiviation of tokaheya = first or Toka = enemy. Icasna = I am going to guess that it is rattling or ringing by pushing, bumping, etc. i am not sure. mna = to rip or tear, Ojanjan = light (fire, lamp) Win[yan] = woman. Toksta, Louie |

Valari: i have seen the first name spelled Nagitokcawin . The tokca can also mean a different, or another.check this out with Louie Garcia.
I believe you will find thename in one of the Santee Censuses, prior to and including the year 1902.

my uncle from (ihanktonwan) said ica means he, himself and sna is alone or by himself or something to that effect. seems like the mmakojanjanwin means like looking glass or something to do with glass or mirror.
